Retail Web Solutions Expand in 2010
Phoenix, AZ – January 19, 2010

Checkgateway, LLC a leader in ACH and electronic check payment processing has recently announced a renewed focus on marketing customized solutions for web retailers.

Payment processing, specifically credit card processing, typically is one of the biggest expenses for not only brick and mortar businesses but internet retailers as well.

Checkgateway, through its proprietary scoring and fraud detection models, can in most cases build a model to accommodate the fast shipping requirements of web retailers by combining the highest and most effective solutions for fraud detection and prevention with a cost model to limit exposure and decrease the high costs of credit card processing.

Checkgateway has found when a web retailer implements an on line ACH check processing payment solution the savings are very significant.

Checkgateway can build a cost benefit analysis to show small, mid-sized and large internet retailers the benefits of adding electronic checks (e-checks, ACH, EFT).

As we start 2010 the discussions in the board rooms around the World center around controlling expenses and increasing revenue. By adding the Checkgateway solution any business can find reasonable solutions to both of these challenges.

Let Checkgateway do a no cost and no obligation analysis of your current payment processing and forecast what it would mean to your small, mid-size or large business by adding online checks as a payment option. In addition, if you are currently accepting online checks a comparison of services is always a good idea.

Staying Ahead of the Curve
The changing economic climate is no longer something affecting only a small number of Americans- the impact of the economic downturn has reached nearly everyone in the country in one way or another. So, for business owners and operators, the focus turns to the impact on consumer behavior. In a recent Nielsen Survey (conducted in February 2009), 63 percent of consumers surveyed said that they had changed or reduced their spending habits due to the new economy.1 Research like this indicates only one thing: consumers are watching the money they spend- and how they’re spending it.

The first thing that’s becoming clear as this fog of economic uncertainty clears is the reduction in credit and debit card usage. In another study conducted in February of this year, nearly half (43 percent) of the consumers surveyed indicated they had reduced their use of credit cards in the last 6 months and 23.5% of those surveyed said they had reduced their usage of debit cards.2 Yet, usage of ACH as a form of payment has continued to grow- with over 18.2 billion transactions run through the ACH (E-Check) network last year alone.3 And why wouldn’t customers turn to ACH? Paying with a checking account costs the consumer much less, as they pay no interest- and it costs the merchant less to accept ACH in the process!

The bottom line is this: businesses need to be on the lookout for trends like these, and adapt to stay ahead of the curve. If your business isn’t offering ACH as a form of payment, you’re missing out on customers each and every day- don’t let your competitors take your customer’s business! Give Checkgateway a call and let us show you all the benefits of our ACH processing service.

Credit Card Reform
Phoenix, AZ – May 26, 2009

What Glitters May Not Be Gold
Senate overwhelmingly passed the new Credit Card Reform Bill on Tuesday, marking a landmark change in the way consumers use credit cards. Undoubtedly, it will have a huge effect on the use of all payment cards, for both consumers and business owners. However, while the bill is intended to curtail the excess fees and unethical practices of the credit card industry, there may be some serious backlash that we should consider.

Credit Card companies have long been known as a costly alternative to check payments and cash. Fees and interest structures typically don’t end up playing into the favor of the consumer- if they miss a payment or go over their limit, interest rates can skyrocket, fees can nearly double and access to credit can be locked up completely. To top it all off, they get a nice hit on their credit rating. With this new legislation, credit card companies are required to rein in excess fees, and change several practices that take advantage of consumers.

But let’s not forget- Credit Card companies have been some of the best performing stocks for years, and there’s no doubt they make good money doing what they do. If nothing else, this should show us that these companies are savvy, and are very likely to come out of this legislation in a better position than before. Like it or not, credit card customers should expect a whole litany of new and creative convenience fees in the near future.

Don’t think that this impacts just consumers, though. Business owners who accept Credit or Debit card payments as their primary means of payment processing are going to see a sharp decline in the number of customers paying that way. Without offering alternative payment forms, such as electronic check (ACH), there could be a steep loss of business altogether if consumers start to feel the pinch of credit card companies’ clever practices, in new and interesting ways.

Most of the discussion going around about this bill is speculative. The truth is there is no definitive way to know what outcome there will be from this credit card legislation, but one thing is for sure: offering another form of payment to your customers is a smart way to ensure that if the worst case scenario comes true, your customers, as well as your bottom line, are secured. As for consumers? Well, it’s probably best to keep a close eye on our credit card bills for a while.

Give us a call at 480-785-2262 for more information on ACH processing, and the benefits you and your business will see from offering E-Checks as a form of payment.

Turning Change into Opportunity
Phoenix, AZ – May 19, 2009

Adapting to a Changing Market
As consumers all across the country feel the pinch of our changing economy, everyone’s looking for ways to cut costs. Business owners must adapt- and in some cases consider new strategies- in order to turn the potential detriment of a down market into the huge benefit it can be. Simply put, businesses that stay static and keep doing “business as usual” will be trampled by businesses that understand their customers’ needs and concerns, and can adapt to meet them.

With interest rates skyrocketing and convenience fees galore, more and more consumers are making purchases by alternative means instead of using their debit or credit cards. Smart business owners are leaning toward alternative payment methods as well, both to help their bottom line and operating costs, as ACH is far cheaper to a merchant than debit and credit card processing, and to appeal to today’s increasingly frugal customers- you never pay a penny of interest on payments made from a checking account. By offering ACH, which allows businesses to securely, directly and electronically charge their customers checking accounts for payment, they’re benefiting both their businesses and their customers!

The bottom line is this: the more forms of payment a business can offer, the more customers they’ll attract and keep. With the economy the way it is today, it’s crucial to stay flexible, and always adapt to your customer’s needs. For more details about the benefits of ACH processing and what it means to your business, give us a call at 480-785-2262, and let us show you the value of offering the total payment package!
